Guide on how to care for your 925 silver jewellery

Most of our jewellery is made from 925 sterling silver, a beautiful precious metal that does need a little love to keep it looking at its finest.

It is very common for silver to get tarnished, a reaction caused when silver meets oxygen or sulphur causing it to look a grey-black colour.

Therefore your most worn pieces could naturally tarnish with continuous exposure to perfumes, moisturizer, hairspray etc. We’ve set out our handy guide below on how to care, maintain and restore those favourite pieces of yours to ensure they are kept in tip top condition.

Preventative Care

It is best to select your jewellery AFTER you have applied make-up, perfume and hairspray to avoid unnecessary contact with these chemicals
Storage is king! Storing silver in airtight plastic bags with anti-tarnish strips is a great preventative measure. However make sure you separate your pieces as silver is a soft metal, making it easy to scratch.

Cleaning Your Silver Jewellery

Silver jewellery with no gemstones or pearls can be washed in warm water with a mild soap. Once washed it is best to dry with a soft lint free cloth before storing. Please don’t use kitchen paper towel to dry as this can scratch your silver!
If you wish to clean you silver jewellery we have the perfect solution for you that works like magic. Mix two parts baking soda to one part water to make a paste, then gently rub the mixture onto the jewelry. Let the paste dry completely to remove the tarnish. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth or microfiber towel.
